SES Auction

As you know the Shepherd Elementary auction is our largest fundraiser. The funds are used to support the needs of our children. Please do your share in supporting this event. Your children are depending on you to solicit any and all of your shopkeepers, department stores, service providers and bosses for donations or sponsorships,  advertising. The challenge is on for each family to:

  • make a personal donation and submit an ad
  • AND to get one independent donation/sponsorship.
  • In addition, we challenge each family to sell a total of four (4) tickets (that's just two (2) for your immediate family and two (2) for extended family or local residents).

To purchase tickets contact Marnie Keller at marniekeller@gmail.com or 202-329-3170.

All the documents you need to become an official auction supporter are listed below and will be downloaded as Microsoft Word documents.

A Few Friendly Reminders:

  • Morning Drop-offs begin at 8:35am. For the children’s safety, please DO NOT drop off on 14th St between Kalmia and Jonquil. Please drop off on either Kalmia or Jonquil and ask the children to walk on the side walk to the front door. Children will line up along marked areas and enter building using double glass doors facing 14th Street (doors near library).
  • Afternoon Pick-ups are at 3:15pm and will occur at the same location as morning drop-offs. Please arrive at 3:10pm and be ready to take your child. We do not have the necessary staffing to keep your child at the office, nor is there insurance for your child after school hours, unless you are signed up with the after care program.
  • Star Achievers Before/After Care Program operates 7:30-8:30am and 3:30-6:30pm, M-F except for legal holidays, official school closings, and early dismissals.Office: 576-5278.
  • Before-care Drop-off will be via the double glass doors facing 14th Street
  • After-care Pick-up will be via the doors by the main office (Jonquil Street entrance).

Traffic Notice:

There are a number of traffic signs around Shepherd Elementary School designed to protect our children's safety.A few traffic safety reminders to keep in mind when going to and from school:

  • Do not park along the curb on southbound 14th Street next to the school. It is has a NO PARKING 8:00AM-4:00PM restriction. If you need to park to walk your child(ren) to their line, plan to take a little extra time and find a space on nearby blocks.
  • Do not double park to let your children out of the car.
  • Do not let your children cross in the middle of the block.
  • The speed limit in a school zone is 15 miles per hour.
  • Come to a complete stop before the crosswalk at the STOP sign at 14th and Jonquil Streets.
  • Traffic signal at 14th and Kalmia Streets.
  • NO TURN ON RED signs are posted on all four approaches to the intersection to protect the children.
  • There are NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signs at 14th / Kalmia Streets and 14th /Jonquil Streets (and every other intersection in the city). The signs are there so that approaching drivers can see the stop signs or traffic signal, and any pedestrians that might be there. If we park our cars blocking the visibility of the signs, drivers may not stop before the crosswalk, potentially endangering our children.
  • Do not make a U-Turn in the intersection of 14th and Jonquil. (Yes, it does happen.)
  • When crossing the street children should stop walking before they enter the crosswalk and look left, look right, then look left again before crossing.
  • And lastly, even with the everyday rush of things, try to plan ahead and take your time when dropping off or picking up your children from school. Let's make everyday safe and enjoyable for the Shepherd Family!
